INTERPERSONAL COMMUNICATION BETWEEN PARENTS AND CHILDREN IN IMPLEMENTING PARENTAL MEDIATION ON GADGET USE IN BENGKALIS DISTRICT

Until recently, there was an interesting phenomenon related to smartphones. The phenomenon is the use of smartphones at all ages. Whereas ideally smartphones are used specifically for teenagers to adults. Some parents misinterpret the use of gadgets in minors. In addition, there are other negative impacts in the form of wrong and undirected self-character formation so that it can affect the child's nature to be closed and not easy to socialize. Children who are dependent on technology tend to have a closed mindset and character.
The research method uses a qualitative method with descriptive analysis. The subjects of this research amounted to 5 people. The data collection techniques used were interviews, observation, and documentation. Data analysis techniques use data reduction, namely extending observations, increasing persistence, triangulation, discussions with peers, using reference materials.
The results showed that interpersonal communication between parents and children in using gadgets in Talang Mandi Village. Interpersonal communication between parents and children is well established, and understanding of gadgets in children is also well understood by children. Interpersonal communication which often occurs every day between parents and children. Whether it is related to daily communication that has been established, or related to the understanding of gadgets that are being accessed by children. Especially with every house that has facilities in the form of an installed WiFi network, it makes it easy for family members to use gadgets. Especially with restrictions on the use of gadgets given by children. Of course, parents must be more vigilant and stricter in addressing this matter. In this case, the use of gadgets is still categorized as safe and regular. Compared to bad impacts, children are more into positive impacts and good utilization. Where they tend to use gadgets better. In addition, the time in using gadgets tends to be short, busy activities such as school and tutoring make gadgets not only a means of learning but also entertainment for children in Talang Mandi Village.
