Kepentingan Singapura Dalam Mempertahankan Otoritas Flight Information Region Kepulauan Riau
Singapore accepted the delegation of the Riau Islands Flight Information Region (FIR) which is Indonesia's sovereign territory through the 1946 International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) meeting. With its strategic position at the crossroads of international shipping and air traffic, Singapore relies heavily on this airspace authority. In order to fulfill its national interests, Singapore continues to strive to maintain the authority of the Riau Islands FIR so that it is not taken over by Indonesia.
The research method used is qualitative with document analysis techniques through the official websites of the Singapore and Indonesian governments. This research uses a realism perspective to explain national interest as a state's effort to pursue power. National interest theory is aligned with this research to analyze Singapore's interest in maintaining the authority of the Riau Islands FIR.
The results of this study provide an understanding of Singapore's efforts in maintaining the Riau Islands FIR authority as an alternative in achieving the country's national interests. The research findings show that Singapore utilizes the Riau Islands FIR as a means of achieving security, economic, political and alliance interests.
