Pengaruh Pembelajaran Inquiry Terhadap Kemampuan Berpikir Kritis Peserta Didik Di Smp Negeri 01 Hulu Kuantan

This research was motivated by the low critical thinking abilities of students. This is caused by the conventional learning model which often takes the form of one-way lectures in the form of delivering material with students only as recipients of information. Therefore, researchers are interested in researching to find out the effect of the inquiry learning model on students' critical thinking abilities by going directly to the field and knowing the real conditions.
The problem formulation in this research is whether there is an influence of inquiry learning on the critical thinking abilities of class VIII students at SMP Negeri 01 Hulu Kuantan. The purpose of this research is to determine the effect of inquiry learning on students' critical thinking abilities at SMP Negeri 01 Hulu Kuantan. The learning model is the entire series of presentation of teaching material which includes all aspects before and after learning carried out by the teacher as well as all related facilities that are used directly or indirectly in the teaching and learning process.
This research is a quantitative type of experimental research using a Pretest-Posttest Control Group Design. The data collection technique in this research is using observation sheets, questionnaires and documentation. The population in this study was class VIII students at SMP Negeri 01 Hulu Kuantan consisting of 44 students and the sample in this study was taken as a whole from a population of 44 students, namely classes VIII A and VIII B.
Inquiry learning has an influence on students' critical thinking abilities because it obtains Sig. (2-tailed) 0.000 at a significance level of 5% or 0.05, the Sig value is obtained. (2-tailed) = 0.000. So 0.000 ≤0.05 then Ha is accepted and Ho is rejected. Based on significant decisions, it can be concluded that there is an influence of the Inquiry Learning Model on the Critical Thinking Ability of Class VIII Students at SMP Negeri 01 Hulu Kuantan by obtaining an average critical thinking ability of 93.6 in the experimental class and an average critical thinking ability of 74.6 in the control class. . Based on the results of the N-Gain test, the N-Gain for the experimental class was 0.58 in the medium category and the control class obtained an N-Gain of 0.11 in the low category. Based on the results of the N-Gain test, it can be concluded that the use of the inquiry learning model in the experimental class is quite effective in improving students' critical thinking skills compared to the use of the lecture method in the control class.
