Peran Pendampingan Pada Saat Dirawat Di Rumah Sakit : Perspektif Pasien Dan Keluarga

Introduction: Hospitalized patient face stress caused by their illness and the hospital environment. Higher levels of psychological stress is associated with worse patient outcomes. Role of companion is considered to have an effect on the patient's recovery. Research purposes: Knowing how important patient companion during hospitalization based on patient and family perspective. Methods: This quantitative research used a descriptive approach with 274 patients and 221 companions in Riau province who were selected using random sampling techniques. Data was collected using a questionnaire and distributed by social media. Data was analyzed using descriptive statistic. Result: Role of patient companion is important in emotional support, navigational support, informational and cognitive support, collaboration with healthcare, care arm, fulfilling basic needs and early warning based on patient and family perspective. Conclusion: Patients and families feel the importance of the presence of a companion during hospitalization. Therefore, every hospitals or inpatient clinics should facilitate the presence of companions.
