Environmental and communication issues are interrelated and have a significant impact on each other. Communication plays an important role in how we understand, communicate and respond to environmental issues. Bearing in mind that the risks that a disaster can cause are not only in the form of property loss, but also environmental damage and loss of life. With risk communication, the main aim is to increase individual or community understanding, awareness and preparation of existing risks. The aim of this research is to determine and analyze whether there is an influence of risk communication and community attitudes towards disaster mitigation in Pekanbaru City.
Research methods usedis descriptive kuantitative with a population of 6,018, using the Slovin formula the sample size was 375 respondents. Research data collection was carried out by distributing questionnaires, while research data analysis used the SPSS 23 program, by finding out whether there is a correlation between the independent variable and the dependent variable.
The results of this study indicate that the variable of risk communication (X1) is carried out by individuals or companies in providing information wherein there is information about personal experiences, relevance of personal experiences, sumber kredibilitas, audience reaction, and community participation in mitigating and reducing gas leaks to reduce risk. According to the results of the Parsial Variable of Risk Communication (X1) with respect to Bencana Mitigasi (Y), the variable of Risk Communication (bebas) has an impact on Bencana Mitigasi (terikat) of sig.,011
