Komunikasi Korporat Pt Riau Andalan Pulp And Paper Melalui Program Pemberdayaan Masyarakat Dalam Meningkatkan Citra Perusahaan Di Kampung Penyengat Kabupaten Siak
The phenomena is based on statements of disappointment from the people of Penyengat Village towards the Company regarding the lack of employment opportunities for local workers. This statement was conveyed by Mr. Abok Agustinus, the Penghulu of Penyengat Village, to the public relations of PT Riau Andalan Pulp and Paper. This problem was responded resolved with alternative solutions so that it did not affect the company’s good image and reputation in Penyengat. A community empowerment program of a pineapple diversification was provided by the Company to the people of Penyengat Village to treat the disappointment of the people of Penyengat Village who disappointed with the Company which was not empowered the community to become workers for the project at Futong Port. The research aims to analyze PT RAPP’s form of corporate communication and the role of its public relations in improving the company’s image through community empowerment programs in Penyengat Village, Siak Regency.
The research uses a qualitative method with a case study approach. The research was carried out by observation, documentation and interviews with ten informants by purposive technique. The informants are from internal company which been categorized by some criteria and the external informants are from communities from Kampung Penyengat and the resident in who lives near to the area of company’s operational.
The results found that the form of Corporate Communication carried out by PT RAPP was divided into two, namely Internal Communication and External Communication. Internal communication activities are carried out within the company environment, both between superiors and subordinates and among colleagues. In internal communication activities, several communication media are used, such as APRIL Digest, public messenger, banners and social media. All published information submitted is managed by the corporate communications department. Likewise with external communication carried out by the stakeholder relations department through village consultation activities with the local government and community leaders. This village consultation activity aims to foster relationships between the company and the community by discussing information related to community input and complaints regarding the Company's operations in the local community area. The role of PR in improving the company's image is carried out through collaboration between departments such as; community development, stakeholder relations, corporate communication which have a focus on their respective stakeholders. A good relationship between the Company's PR and the community in Penyengat Village facilitates the communication process so that the company's programs are accepted by the community and provide a positive image for the Company in the area.
