Pengaruh Variasi Penambahan Zat Aditif Graphene Dan Surfactant Span 80 Terhadap Tingkat Difusi Dan Viskositas Pada Wet Contact Disc On Disc Dengan Menggunakan Rbd Palm Olein
Tribology is a scientific field that studies the interaction of surfaces involving friction, wear, and lubrication in relative motion. Lubrication is one effective method to reduce friction and wear. To minimize the use of environmentally negative mineral oil-based Lubricant, alternative Lubricant sources such as vegetable oils, including palm oil, are utilized. The advantages of palm oil include its affordability, biodegradability, environmental friendliness, and renewability. However, palm oil has low oxidation stability, resulting in increased friction and wear on contact surfaces. At high temperatures, the viscosity of palm oil decreases, making it unsuitable as a Lubricant for high-temperature machine components and prone to deposits if left undisturbed for several days. To mitigate the deposit issue, surfactant SPAN 80 is added as an emulsifier for the Lubricant. This study employed a disc-on-disc tribometer test setup. In the variation of RBD palm oil 97%, graphene 1%, and SPAN 80 2%, the highest wear rate recorded was 3,45695 x 10-5 mm3/Nm, with the highest coefficient of friction being 6,897 x10-7. In the variation of RBD palm oil 95%, graphene 1%, and SPAN 80 4%, the highest wear rate observed was 3,33793 x 10-5 mm3/Nm, with the highest coefficient of friction being 8,615 x 10-7. In the variation of RBD palm oil 94%, graphene 2%, and SPAN 80 4%, the highest wear rate measured was 3,06741 x 10-5 mm3/Nm, with the highest coefficient of friction being 8,885 x 10-7.
