Kaji Eksperimental Variasi Impeler Terhadap Kinerja Pompa Sebagai Turbin Untuk Pembangkit Listrik Tenaga Air
Pump as Turbine (PAT) is a term that refers to a pump that can also function as a turbin. These pumps can convert fluid flow into mechanical energy when operating as a turbine. This allows the use of the same device to flow fluid to somewhere (as a pump) and generate energy if the flow direction of fluid is reversed (as a turbin) with the type of pump used is a centrifugal pump. The problem of electricity in isolated areas can be solved by using pumps as turbines where inland areas have rivers or waterfalls and irrigation channels, but with relatively small and unstable discharges depending on the season. However, it is difficult to carry out field research because of inaccessible access using vehicles, by conducting surveys and taking important data in the field, then creating similar tools in laboratories to perform experiments as well as analyses and methods of selection of materials and processes for pumps as turbines, which could later be developed again. A lot of research has been done to improve efficiency and as a reference in use for hydroelectric power plants as renewable energy utilizations. By making changes to the type of impeller namely; fully closed impeller, semi closed impeller, and open impeller to determine the efficiency of each impeller. In this study, the efficiency in each experiment around 78%. The characteristics of both open and semi closed impellers are fluctuating, as well as the fully closed impeller are relatively stable.
