Representasi Penerapan Elemen Jurnalisme Dalamfilm Profile Karya Timur Bekmambetov
Journalism is influenced by dynamics in media, technology, and society, with concerns for the integrity of information. Stories related to the world of journalism can be elevated into a compelling movie. A movie is considered a representation of social reality. One of the movies that raise the theme of the life of a journalist who applies the elements of journalism is the Profile movie. Profile movie has its own uniqueness by combining the thriller genre and the concept of screenlife (computer screen movies). This study aims to analyze how the representation of the application of journalism elements in the Profile film by Timur Bekmambetov.
This research uses a qualitative research method with a Charles Sanders Peirce semiotic analysis approach. The subject of this research is the movie Profile. This research focuses on the movie Profile which tells the story of a journalist named Amy Whittaker investigating the case of the ISIS group recruiting young women through Facebook social media. This research was conducted by analyzing 15 scenes as data analysis units selected based on journalism elements formulated by Bill Kovach and Tom Rosenstiel.
Using Charles Sanders Peirce's semiotic analysis technique, the researcher found that Profile represents Bill Kovach and Tom Rosenstiel's ten elements of journalism very well. There are 15 scenes that have been identified and illustrate the ten elements of journalism. Through the characters, visuals, and audio in this film, researchers were able to find relevant scenes to analyze in this study.
