KAJI EKSPERIMENTAL ELECTROLYZER HIDROGEN TIPE WET CELL PADA MESIN PEMBAKARAN DALAM
The increasingly critical greenhouse gas effect encourages various countries to
accelerate the transition to new and renewable energy that is environmentally
friendly. Previous research has shown that hydrogen can be an alternative energy
source to reduce dependence on non-renewable carbon-based fossil fuels. The
application of hydrogen technology to internal combustion engines can be
implemented without drastically modifying the existing engine design. This study
observes the effect of adding electrolyzed hydrogen gas on the performance of
combustion engines under varying brake loads. The power consumption of the
electrolyzer with different concentrations of KOH (Potassium Hydroxide) during
the testing process was also observed. The results of this study show an increase in
engine performance after the addition of electrolyzed gas, including a 4.9%
increase in effective brake power, 3.1% increase in thermal efficiency, a 7.2%
increase in volumetric efficiency, an 8.8% improvement in AFR, and up to a 3%
decrease in BSEC. The relationship between KOH (Potassium Hydroxide) molarity
and electrical power consumption shows the lowest consumption at 30%wt KOH.
