Indonesia is the fourth country with the largest peatland in the world after Canada, Russia
and the United States. The existence of extensive peatlands has a positive impact on
Indonesia, including hydrological, production and ecological functions which are vital for
human survival. However, on the other hand, peatlands are vulnerable to fire disasters.
Forest fires in peatlands often cause smoke disasters that can disrupt the activities and health
of local communities. As a measure to prevent peatland fires, it is necessary to monitor or
monitor the peatland area. One way to do this is by utilizing information technology in the
form of the Internet of Things (IoT). So a NodeMCU EPS8266 based device was created
which was connected to the LM35 temperature measurement module and the SIM900 GSM
Module. The device can measure the temperature of the land. If the temperature exceeds the
predetermined limit, the system will send a warning notification via Telegram chat bot and
SMS.
