OPTIMASI RUNNER TURBIN VORTEX TIPE CURVED DENGAN VARIASI DIAMETER MENGGUNAKAN METODE CFD (COMPUTATIONAL FLUID DYNAMIC)
A vortex turbine or vortex turbine is one of the reaction turbines that utilizes
artificial whirlpools to rotate the turbine blade and then the whirlpool energy is
converted into rotational energy. One way to optimize a vortex turbine Runner
is to vary the Runner diameter. In the research conducted by the author, the
optimum diameter of the curved type vortex turbine Runner was determined by
varying the diameter of the Runner by varying the diameter of the Runner as
many as 7 diameter variations. This study aims to determine the ratio of the ideal
turbine Runner diameter when the Basin diameter is set at 0.4 m. So that the
performance of each variation of the turbine Runner diameter can be known ,
then the ideal Runner diameter size is obtained to produce maximum power from
the vortex turbine and compared with the results of previous experimental tests.
Broadly speaking, the method is carried out by making a turbine geometry design
using the Autodex Inventor computer software and then simulated using ANSYS
Fluent software. The stages in this simulation process are divided into 3, namely
Pre-processing, Solver, and Post-Processing. From the simulation results, it can
be concluded that the 24 cm variation has the highest efficiency with an efficiency
value of 22%. This is because in a turbine with a diameter of 24 cm, the direction
of flow falls on the turbine blade in the optimal direction, which means that the
thrust force on the turbine blade is due to the water power produced is extracted
optimally at a blade of 24 (cm).
