RANCANG BANGUN DRYER DAN TORREFACTOR TIPE TUBULAR KONTINU UNTUK PRODUKSI BIOCOAL BERBAHAN DASAR TANDAN KOSONG KELAPA SAWIT DENGAN KAPASITAS 50 KG/JAM
The depletion of fossil energy sources due to increased usage necessitates
alternative replacements for primary fuels. Indonesia, with the largest palm oil
plantations in the world, generates a significant amount of empty fruit bunch (EFB)
waste that is difficult to decompose. This waste can be processed into an alternative
fuel to replace coal through the torrefaction process, producing a biomass called
biocoal. This study aims to design a dryer and torrefactor device with a capacity of
50 kg/hour using a continuous tubular reactor. The reactor has a length of 1,600
mm, a screw diameter of 144 mm, a conveyor screw pitch of 75 mm, and a conveyor
screw shaft diameter of 25 mm, with an energy requirement of 1,731.6 watts for
drying and 2,381.3 watts for torrefaction. The highest calorific value of biocoal at
400°C for a capacity of 50 kg/hour reaches 4327.52 kcal/kg. The biocoal produced
is comparable to sub-bituminous coal.
