"ETNOGRAFI KOMUNIKASI TRADISI MARARAK ANAK PANCAR PADA UPACARA PERNIKAHAN DI KECAMATAN BENAI KABUPATEN KUANTAN SINGINGI"
The tradition of mararak anak pancar at community wedding
ceremonies in Benai District, is carried out for generations which contains
values and norms in the life of the Benai community. The tradition of mararak
anak pancar is a procession to escort children by induak bako which aims to
describe the joy and form of joy by induak bako towards children. This study
aims to find out the ethnography of communication in the mararak tradition
of children of Pancar at the wedding ceremony of the Benai community in
Benai District. To achieve this goal, the focus of this research is how the
communicative situation in the mararak anak pancar tradition at the wedding
ceremony of the Benai community, communicative events in the mararak
anak pancar tradition at the wedding ceremony of the Benai community and
communicative actions in the mararak tradition of the child pancar at the
wedding ceremony in the Benai community.
The author uses a qualitative research method, with a communication
ethnographic approach. The research location is in Benai District, Kuantan
Singingi Regency. The field research period is from March 2024 to June
2024. The research subjects were 8 people. The object of ethnographic
research on communication of the mararak tradition of children of Pancar at
a wedding ceremony in Benai District. Data collection techniques through
observation, interviews and documentation. The data analysis technique uses
an interactive model by Miles and Huberman. The validity test of the data
used triangulation techniques and extension of participation.
The results of the study explain that the communicative situation in
the mararak anak pancar tradition at the wedding ceremony in Benai subdistrict
shows the context of the time, place and atmosphere that occurred
during the mararak anak pancar tradition. Then communicative events in the
mararak tradition of Anak Pancar in Benai District, Kuantan Singingi
Regency include the type of event, topic, function and purpose, setting,
participants, form of message, content of the message, sequence of actions,
rules of interaction and interpretation norms. Furthermore, the
communicative action of ninik mamak and induak bako who understand the
values contained in the wedding ceremony very well. The meaning and value
of marriage will fade if there is no wedding ceremony in a culture.
