Strategi Komunikasi Lingkungan Pokdarwis Dalam Melestarikan Bumi Perkemahan Bukik Tobek Di Desawisata Gema

Tourism is an important sector with the potential to boost regional development, particularly through the preservation of cultural values and the development of tourist attractions. This study examines the role of environmental communication by the Tourism Awareness Group (Pokdarwis) in preserving the natural environment of the Bukik Tobek Camping Ground tourist site in Gema Tourism Village, Kampar Kiri Hulu Sub-district, Kampar Regency, Riau Province. The significant tourism potential in this location still faces challenges, especially in waste management and preventing environmental damage caused by floods and landslides. The aim of this study is to analyze the planning and implementation of environmental communication carried out by Pokdarwis in efforts to preserve the natural environment.
This research uses a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. The subjects in this study were 7 people consisting of the Village Head, Pokdarwis members, the community, and visitors with the determination of subjects using purposive techniques. Data collection was conducted through interviews, observation, and documentation involving various parties, including the village head, Pokdarwis members, the community, and visitors. Data analysis techniques followed four stages: data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing.
The results of the study show that Pokdarwis plays a crucial role in promoting environmental awareness through various communication strategies. Communication planning includes problem analysis, audience identification, and the selection of appropriate media, while implementation involves educational campaigns, active community participation, and the use of social media. The evaluation shows that environmental communication has not been effective. Litter is still scattered, and community and visitor participation in maintaining cleanliness is low. Pokdarwis needs to improve communication methods and media, as well as consider implementing penalties. This study concludes that by strengthening environmental communication strategies, Pokdarwis can be more effective in encouraging environmental preservation and supporting sustainable tourism development in Gema Tourism Village.
