Komposisi Floristik Dan Tingkat Kerentanan Hutan Gambut Di Desa Lukun, Kecamatan Tebing Tinggi Timur, Kabupaten Kepulauan Meranti
Peat forests are one of the natural resources that play an important role in life, especially in storing biodiversity. Therefore, the floristic composition and current conditions of peat forests need to be studied to become basic information in peatland management strategies. This study aims to: i) analyze the floristic composition in two forest conditions with different levels of disturbance; ii) determine the current condition of peat forests based on the level of vulnerability in two forest conditions with different levels of disturbance; and iii) analyze the relationship between stand structure and level of vulnerability in the peat forest of Lukun Village, East Tebing Tinggi Subdistrict, Meranti Islands Regency. The study was conducted in two locations with different disturbance levels, using purposive sampling, T-tests, regression and correlation analysis. The results of the study showed that the number of species found at all levels was more in location two namely 43 species from 30 families, compared to location one namely 23 species from 16 families. The dominant species at location one are pioneer, including tenggek burung (Melicope ptelefolia) and mahang (Macaranga pruinosa). Meanwhile, location two is dominated by native species that vary at each level, such as medang lundu (Phoebe sp.), serang (Gluta walichii), meranti bunga (Shorea leprosula), and meranti bakau (Shorea uliginosa). The condition of peat forests based on the level of vulnerability in location one is classified as a medium criterion, while in location two it is classified as a very low criterion. The relationship between stand structure parameters and the level of vulnerability is significantly influenced by basal area and density with a very strong relationship level.
Key findings: Importance value index, Lukun Village, natural regeneration, peat forest, vulnerability.
