Pengembangan Bahan Ajar Menulis Syair pada Materi Transformasi Teks Mata Kuliah Filologi
This thesis, titled Development of Teaching Materials for Writing Syair on Text Transformation Material in Philology Courses, addresses the need for innovative teaching materials aligned with 21st-century demands. These materials emphasize not only theoretical understanding but also creative, collaborative practice and the integration of local wisdom. In the Philology course, creative writing skills such as composing syair (traditional Malay poetic form) are crucial to help students integrate cultural values into the study of literature.
The study aims to develop constructivism-based teaching materials that enhance students’ creative writing skills by focusing on active exploration and meaningful creation. The research employs the Research and Development (R&D) method, following the Dick, Carey, and Carey model. The stages include needs identification, material development, expert validation, field trials, and implementation. The teaching materials were developed by integrating project-based strategies, digital media, and local wisdom content. Validation by experts ensured the quality of the product.
The research findings indicate that the constructivism-based teaching materials effectively improved students' creative writing skills. Students showed significant progress in understanding, analyzing, interpreting, comparing, and composing syair texts. The learning process became more interactive and relevant, supporting the learning objectives of the Philology course. The materials also attracted students’ interest and increased their participation.
In conclusion, the development of these teaching materials supports the mastery of creative writing skills and fosters meaningful learning experiences. The integration of technology and local wisdom proved effective in engaging students. This study contributes to the advancement of culturally-based learning in higher education. Recommendations include further integration of technology, providing lecturer training, and conducting periodic evaluations of the materials’ effectiveness. Future research is needed to explore new strategies for culturally-based creative writing instruction.
