Dampak Keberadaan Unit Penambangan Timah Singkep (UPTS) Dalam Sosial-Ekonomi Masyarakat Dabo Singkep Masa Tin Crash (1985-1992)

This research examines the impact of the existence of the Singkep Tin Mining Unit (UPTS) on the socio-economic conditions of the Dabo Singkep community during the 1985-1992 Tin Crash. The aim of this research is to describe the history of the establishment of the Singkep Tin Mining Unit, determine the impact of the tin crash on the Singkep Tin Mining Unit and the impact of the existence of the Singkep Tin Mining Unit (UPTS) on the socio-economics of the Dabo Singkep community during the tin crisis period. This research uses a historical method which includes four stages, namely: heuristics, source criticism/verification, interpretation and historiography. The results of this research show that the initial history of UPTS was founded in 1959 since the nationalization of the NV tin company. Dutch-owned SITEM became PPTS until it officially became a company in 1976. The tin crash resulted in a decrease in income, changes in organizational structure and the closure of UPTS in 1992. The impact of UPTS' existence on the Singkep community in social aspects includes changes in demographics, lifestyle, health, education and environmental as well as economic aspects: employment, income, changes in livelihoods and infrastructure. The conclusion of this research shows that the impact of the existence of UPTS on the socio-economic conditions of the Dabo Singkep community during the Tin Crash period was mostly negative or experienced a setback.
