Analisis Semiotika Ferdinand De Saussure Pesan Moral Dalam Film Makmum 2
Makmum 2 is an Indonesian horror film released in 2021. Produced by BlueWater Films and Dee Company, and directed by Guntur Soeharjanto. It is a sequel to the 2019 film Makmum and is adapted from a short film by Riza Pahlevi. The movie conveys moral messages related to everyday life, particularly in islamic contexts such as worship and mutual help. This study aims to identify the signifier, signified, and sign analysis in the film as a medium for delivering its moral values.
This research employs a descriptive qualitative method with Ferdinand de Saussure’s analysis approach, focusing on signs, signifiers, and signifieds. Eight units of data were selected based on visual and narrative relevance. Data collection techniques included observation and documentation, while triangulation was used to ensure data validity.
The findings reveal: first, the moral messages in Makmum 2 are evident through signs like images, audio (dialogues), and scene duration in eight selected scenes. Second, the process of forming moral messages was analyzed using Saussure’s concepts. Signifiers represent dialogues/text in the film, while signifieds refer to visual elements that convey moral messages about human relationships in a social context and with God, reflecting positive values. Third, the researcher identified three behaviors related to human relationship in social context, no behaviors related to self-relationship, and one behavior concerning human relationships with God across eight scenes. The study found three key moral messages about social interaction, self-relationships, and faith. Social behavior identified include wisdom, responsibility, and empathy or togetherness, while faith represents the human-God relationship.
