Pengembangan Model Pembelajaran Kontekstual Berbasis Proyek dalam Menulis Teks Prosedur Siswa Kelas XI Fase (F) SMA
The purpose of this research was to explain how the project-based contextual learning model works, its significant impact on students' learning outcomes, and the quality of the model in teaching procedural text writing. This study employed a development approach (Research and Development) by adopting the ADDIE model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation).
The research was conducted at SMA Negeri 3 Mandau, Bengkalis Regency, Riau Province. The population consisted of all 432 students of grade XI phase F at the school. However, the study involved a sample of 72 students from classes XI B1 and XI B2. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation techniques. Data analysis used both quantitative and qualitative approaches to assess the effectiveness and quality of the developed model. Quantitative analysis was performed by examining the validation results of the learning model and the significant differences in students' academic performance using SPSS 23.
The validation results of the learning model showed 91.87% for content and language aspects, 92.1% for the learning model aspect, and 91% for the test validation, indicating that the model is feasible for implementation. Validation conducted by six experts demonstrated that the developed project-based contextual learning model met the criteria for feasibility and was effective for teaching procedural text writing. Quantitative data analysis using SPSS 23 revealed a statistically significant difference in the average learning outcomes between the experimental group, which applied the project-based contextual learning model (mean score: 86.25), and the control group, which used the conventional learning model (mean score: 74.86). This difference indicates that the project-based contextual learning model is superior in enhancing students' academic performance.
Qualitative data analysis showed that the developed learning model not only supported more meaningful learning but also successfully stimulated students' critical thinking, creativity, and collaboration skills. This finding indicates that the model aligns with the characteristics of the learning material and meets the learning objectives as required by the curriculum. The educational goals aligned with the Merdeka Curriculum, which aims to develop 21st-century skills among students, can thus be realized as expected.
The implications of this research contribute to innovation in writing learning, as well as recommendations for teachers to integrate this approach in other subjects. Thus, the project-based contextual learning model developed is effective and of high quality in improving the procedural text writing skills of class XI phase F students at SMA Negeri 3 Mandau, Bengkalis Regency, Riau Province.
