Pengaruh Komunikasi Terapeutik Perawat Terhadap Tingkat Penurunan Kecemasan Keluarga Pasien Rawat Jalan Skizofrenia Paranoid Di Rumah Sakit Jiwa Tampan Pekanbaru
This study aims to analyze in depth the influence of therapeutic communication carried out by nurses on the level of anxiety experienced by families of outpatients suffering from schizophrenia at Tampan Mental Hospital, Pekanbaru. Therapeutic communication itself refers to verbal and nonverbal interactions carried out with empathy and effectively, which aim to provide psychological and emotional support to patients and their families. In the context of mental health care, therapeutic communication plays a very important role, especially in an approach oriented towards the Stimulus-Response (SR) theory, which emphasizes understanding and managing emotions. The anxiety felt by families of schizophrenia patients often increases, not only due to the patient's medical condition, but also due to the lack of clear, precise, and attentive communication from the nurse. Ignorance of the patient's condition and the lack of information provided by the nurse can worsen the feelings of anxiety and uncertainty experienced by the family.
This research used a quantitative method with a simple regression approach and involved 90 respondents who were patient families. Data were collected through questionnaires to disseminate the relationship between the quality of therapeutic communication and family anxiety disorders. The data analysis technique is simple linear regression.
The results of the analysis show that effective therapeutic communication has a significant effect on reducing family anxiety levels. Communication conducted with empathy and clarity helps families feel more involved and reduces their feelings of stress. This research found that the nurse's role in providing clear information and listening to family concerns is key to managing anxiety. The conclusion of this study emphasizes the importance of therapeutic communication skills in reducing the anxiety of the patient's family. For this reason, it is recommended that therapeutic communication training programs for care be strengthened, as well as therapeutic communication techniques in hospital operational standards. Regular evaluation of the effectiveness of therapeutic communication is also recommended to improve the quality of health services and emotional support for patient families.
