Etnografi Komunikasi Tari Dabus Kecamatan Rengat Kabupaten Indragiri Hulu
The dabus dance is a form of dance that demonstrates the dancer's resilience against sharp objects. (besi). This art form originates from the Rengat district in Indragiri Hulu Regency and is often showcased at wedding ceremonies, circumcisions, and other local cultural events in Indragiri Hulu Regency. One of the elements of traditional regional art that has not received much in-depth study and research is the dabus dance found in the community of Rengat sub-district, Indragiri Hulu district.
This research uses a qualitative method with a communication ethnography approach. The informants in this study consist of 7 individuals selected based on specific criteria using purposive sampling techniques. The data collection techniques in this study are through observation, interviews, and documentation. The data analysis techniques involve data reduction, presentation, and drawing conclusions. The data examination technique used is triangulation.
The results of the research indicate that the communicative event of the dabus dance in Rengat District, Indragiri Hulu Regency encompasses all the components that build communication, namely the type of event, topic, purpose and function, participants, form of message, content of message, sequence of actions, interaction rules, and interpretation norms in the dabus dance. Meanwhile, communication acts occur when the leader recites the dabus dance mantra, engaging in spiritual communication, and the communication situation arises in each movement of the dabus dance that carries implied meanings.
