Analisis Framing Berita Politisasi Bantuan Sosial Di Metro Tv Dan Kompas Tv
As the 2024 election approaches, the politicization of social assistance has become a widely reported issue in Indonesian media, particularly by Metro TV and Kompas TV. This issue has garnered public attention due to concerns that social assistance distribution during the campaign period may be exploited for the political benefit of certain parties. This study aims to analyze the framing of this issue in both media based on four key elements of Robert Entman’s framing theory: defining problems, diagnosing causes, making moral judgments, and recommending treatments.
This study uses a qualitative approach with framing analysis based on Entman’s model. The data comprises 12 news reports, with 6 from Metro TV and 6 from Kompas TV. Entman's framing theory was selected to identify the narrative patterns each media outlet employs to highlight specific aspects of social assistance politicization.
The findings show that: First, Metro TV’s “define problems” emphasizes public criticism of the government for allegedly violating political ethics and morals, while Kompas TV frames the issue more neutrally as a matter of electoral integrity and government accountability. Second, for “diagnose causes,” Metro TV identifies high-ranking officials, including President Jokowi and certain ministers, as primary actors in this issue, while Kompas TV highlights the timing between social assistance distribution and elections as the catalyst for public suspicion. Third, Metro TV’s “make moral judgment” focuses on ethical breaches and power misuse, whereas Kompas TV provides space for the government to address the allegations. Finally, for “treatment recommendation,” Metro TV suggests law enforcement and transparency in assistance distribution, while Kompas TV advocates for stricter oversight by Bawaslu to prevent potential abuse of social assistance for political purposes
