Pengelolaan Media Sosial Dinas Komunikasi Dan Informatika Kota Padang Panjang Dalam Penyebaran Informasi Publik
The current use of social media has prompted the government to enhance its capabilities in disseminating information, including through social media platforms. The Communication and Information Office (Diskominfo) of Padang Panjang City, as a government agency, is tasked with disseminating public information. Social media has significantly contributed to the dissemination process within the Padang Panjang City Government environment. However, its use has not been fully optimized due to several challenges. As of now, the social media platforms actively managed by Diskominfo Padang Panjang are Facebook and Instagram.
This research aims to analyze the planning, organizing, actuating, and controlling of social media management by Diskominfo Padang Panjang in disseminating public information. A descriptive qualitative approach was employed to understand how social media is managed. Data were collected through interviews with seven informants, field observations by directly visiting Diskominfo Padang Panjang and participating in public information dissemination activities, and documentation of archived materials from Diskominfo Padang Panjang. The research focuses on social media management, covering the stages of planning, organizing, mobilizing, and monitoring.
The study revealed that effective management is crucial for social media publication. First, the planning stage involves strategic plans broken down into program plans to create content for publication on social media. Second, the organizing stage involves a structured approach where roles such as managing editor, coverage coordinator, field reporting and documentation team, content production coordinator, graphic designers, and editors are assigned specific tasks to support publication activities. Third, the actuating stage examines how the dissemination of public information is executed, starting with task assignments, field reporting, scriptwriting, and graphic design before publication. Finally, the controlling stage involves publishing content on social media and tracking content insights using the Meta Business Suite application.
