This study discusses the role of Tuan Syekh Faqih Abdurrahman Rafie in advancing Pondok Pesantren Hubbulwathan in Duri, Mandau District, during the period of 1960-1988. The objective of this research is to describe the life history of Tuan Syekh Faqih Abdurrahman Rafie, to describe the history and progress of Pondok Pesantren Hubbulwathan in Duri, and to describe the role of Tuan Syekh Faqih Abdurrahman Rafie in advancing Pondok Pesantren Hubbulwathan in Duri, Mandau District, during the period of 1960-1988. As the founder and key figure in the development of the pesantren, Tuan Syekh Faqih Abdurrahman Rafie made significant contributions in various fields, including education through the development of facilities and infrastructure, religious-social aspects through strengthening dakwah (preaching) and religious study, and economics by opening micro-enterprises that empowered both the santri (students) and the community of Duri. This research uses historical research methods, namely heuristics, verification, interpretation, and historiography. Through this approach, the study finds that Tuan Syekh Faqih Abdurrahman Rafie played an important role in making Pondok Pesantren Hubbulwathan a central religious education institution that had a significant impact on the development of education and society in Duri, shaping a generation of youth who are religious and of good character.
