Pengaruh Realitas Virtual dan Kompetensi Pelatih terhadap Penurunan Kecemasan Berbicara Siswa: Studi Eksperimen pada Pelatihan Wicara Publik di Sekolah Menengah Kejurusan Bina Profesi Pekanbaru
Public speaking anxiety is a common issue that can impact students' performance in various academic and professional situations. With advancements in technology, virtual reality (VR) has emerged as an innovative method designed to help students overcome this anxiety by creating safe and interactive simulated environments. This study employs the S-R theory to evaluate the influence of virtual reality (VR) and trainer competence as stimuli on reducing public speaking anxiety among students at SMK Bina Profesi Pekanbaru.
This study employed a quantitative approach using a true experimental design with a pretest-posttest only control group design. The sample consisted of 105 students divided into an experimental group (participating in VR-based training) and a control group (without VR-based training). Public speaking anxiety was measured using the Personal Report of Public Speaking Anxiety (PRPSA) scale. The Difference-in-Difference analysis technique was applied to assess the influence of each variable, including treatment (interaction between training and time), on reducing students' public speaking anxiety.
The findings revealed that VR-based training, time, the interaction between training and time, and trainer competence did not significantly affect reducing students' public speaking anxiety. Although the coefficients of some variables indicated a negative direction, suggesting potential anxiety reduction, these results were not statistically significant. This study concludes that while VR technology offers innovation in public speaking training, its effectiveness in reducing students' anxiety requires further optimization. Future research is recommended to explore other variables that may be more relevant in addressing public speaking anxiety.
