Peran Ombudsman Wilayah Riau Dalam Penanganan Pengaduan Penerimaan Peserta Didik Baru (Ppdb) Di Kota Pekanbaru Tahun 2021-2022
The presence of complaints regarding new student admissions by parents in schools in Pekanbaru highlights the necessity of the Riau Regional Ombudsman and the impact it has on the community. This study aims to analyze the role of the Riau Regional Ombudsman in handling complaints related to New Student Admissions (PPDB) in Pekanbaru City during the 2021-2022 period. The main focus of this research is to know and evaluate how succesful of the Ombudsman in resolving issues faced by the community, particularly parents and students, concerning the often controversial and complaint-ridden PPDB process.This study employs a qualitative research method, as it allows the researcher to examine and assess the extent of the Ombudsman’s role in handling PPDB-related complaints. The theoretical framework used in this research is based on the theory of public institution roles as outlined by Patarai, which includes good governance, community aggregation, and as a government watchdog.The findings indicate that the Riau Regional Ombudsman plays a crucial role in providing complaint services, conducting investigations, and recommending improvements to the PPDB system. Additionally, the study identifies challenges in the Ombudsman’s implementation of its duties, such as a lack of socialization regarding community rights and budget constraints that affect its capacity to work.Recommendations from this study emphasize the need for increased socialization of the Ombudsman’s functions and roles, as well as strengthening cooperation between the Ombudsman and educational institutions to create a more transparent and accountable PPDB. system. Consequently, it is hoped that the Ombudsman can play a more optimal role in protecting community rights in the educational process.
