Kehidupan Sosial Budaya Dan Pendidikan Masyarakat Suku Laut Di Desa Concong Luar Kecamatan Concong Kabupaten Idragiri Hilir Pada Masa Pemerintahan Bupati Rusli Zainal Tahun 1999-2003
The Sea Tribe, known as Orang Laut, is one of the isolated tribes in Riau Province. The Sea tribe originates from the remains of the Proto-Malay people who came from the Melaka Strait around 2500-1500 years BC. Until it split into two pieces. Those who fled to the mainland became the Talang Mamak Tribe, while those who fled to the sea became the Sea Tribe. However, the spread of Islam is not really attached to the Sea Tribe, this may have happened because the Sea Tribe lives a very nomadic life. This means that Malay clerics do not have much opportunity to guide them with Islamic teachings.
This research uses a qualitative method with a descriptive approach with the technique of determining research subjects, namely purposive. This uses data collection techniques through interviews, observation and documentation. The number of informants was ten people according to predetermined criteria. The results of this research discuss the social, cultural and educational life of the Laut tribe community in Concong Luar village, Concong sub-district, Indragiri downstream district during the reign of Regent Rusli Zainal, showing that the Laut Tribe has been able to interact fully towards a complex society.
