Analisis Pemanfaatan Sampah Jenis Low Density Polyethylene (Ldpe) Dengan Metode Pirolisis Sebagai Alternatif Bahan Bakar Minyak
This study aims to explore the potential utilization of Low Density Polyethylene (LDPE) plastic waste through pyrolysis method as an alternative fuel oil. In this study, variations in temperature (350°C, 400°C, 450°C) and holding time (45 minutes, 60 minutes, 75 minutes) with 500 grams of test material were applied to evaluate their influence on the pyrolysis results. Density, viscosity, calorific value, and GC-MS were tested to see the characteristics of the oil and the compound components contained in the pyrolysis oil. The results showed that the highest calorific value was 11,086.52 cal/g at 450°C with a holding time of 75 minutes. As for the results of GC-MS, the main compound component produced is hydrocarbons where the value is up to 96.47%. The results showed that the higher the temperature and the longer the holding time, the more oil and gas were produced, while the yield of solids decreased. The pyrolysis oil produced was then tested for density, viscosity, chemical composition, and calorific value. The pyrolysis oil results show that the oil product from LDPE waste has the potential to be used as an alternative fuel, with a heating value comparable to conventional fuels.
