Upaya Riau Andalan Pulp And Paper Sektor Pelalawan Dalam Mengimplementasikan Sustainable Development Goals (Ekosistem daratan)
The issue of deforestation has been a major concern since a decade ago. This is one of the reasons why Terrestrial Ecosystems are one of the focuses of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) program. This study discusses how multinational companies participate in implementing point 15 of the SDGs on Terrestrial Ecosystems in Indonesia. Leading companies in the primary natural resource sector set more targeted and measurable environmental goals through corporate programs. This is based on the increasing recognition by business actors that they need to manage their operational and reputational risks to environmental issues such as water scarcity, pollution, climate change, and biodiversity loss.
Data were obtained from journals, official websites, books, and interview and observation activities at one of the multinational companies in Indonesia, namely PT. RAPP. To analyze the data, the author uses the theory of global governance which states that a company in carrying out its activities must work transparently and reliably and business management that can be legally accounted for and not solely oriented towards economic aspects (profit) but also considers the social and environmental impacts that may arise from their business activities.
The study shows how PT. RAPP as a multinational company engaged in the pulp and paper industry implements the SDGs target regarding the Terrestrial Ecosystem in Pelalawan through the APRIL2030 program. In addition to being a form of compliance with laws and regulations in Indonesia, the implementation of the SDGs regarding the Terrestrial Ecosystem through the APRIL2030 program is intended to gain the company's good name in the international market.
