Analisis Etnografi Virtual Ujaran Kebencian Kepada Tentara Israel Pada Komunitas Julid Fi Sabilillah
The Julid Fi Sabilillah community was formed from a massive movement on social media against Israel with scathing comments and sharp criticism. This was done to defend Palestine, raise awareness, and counter Israeli propaganda. Israel's genocide against Palestine has triggered the birth of hate speech against Israel on various digital platforms. One of the main targets of this hate speech is the Israeli army, which is considered a symbol of the strength of the opposing side in the conflict. The Julid Fi Sabilillah community uses a discussion room in the form of a conversation group on Telegram social media as a community communication medium. The existence of this discussion room is more directed and orderly and is secret in the strategy of attacking the target. This study aims to determine the level of media space, level of media documents, level of media objects, and the level of experience of virtual ethnographic analysis of hate speech against Israeli soldiers in the Julid Fi Sabilillah community.
This study uses a qualitative research method with a virtual ethnographic approach. The subjects of the study were Telegram users who were members of the community and participated in the Julid Fi Sabilillah movement totalling four people and one international political observer determined based on the purposive sampling technique. Data collection is carried out through in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation. The data analysis technique uses the cyber media analysis method by Nasrullah (in Hine, 200) using four levels, namely the media room level, the media document level, the media object level, and the experience level. In addition, the technique of checking the validity of the data uses triangulation of data sources.
The results of the study show that, first, at the level of the media space, it was found that this study, namely hate speech that is often carried out in community actions, Julid Fi Sabilillah often uses phrases and keywords that lead to insults and curses, giving rise to two-way and multi-directional communication models among community members. Second, at the level of media documents, it was found that the occurrence of hate speech on social media was due to the existence of a culture of participation used to study the activities of people who also contributed and participated, one of which was by commenting on social media. Third, at the level of media objects, it is found that there is the use of social media, platform X has the same role as Telegram, namely as a discussion space for the Julid Fi Sabilillah community in interacting or doing activities to provide freedom of expression and discussion for community members. Fourth, at the experience level, it was found that there was a form of motivation to establish social interaction with others around them in cyberspace in the Julid Fi Sabilillah community.
