Education is basically a conscious effort to develop the human resource potential of students by encouraging and facilitating teaching and learning activities. The development of science and technology has also progressed very quickly, this situation has influenced all aspects of human life, including the world of education. To be able to keep up with current developments, good quality education is needed. As far as possible, science learning, especially physics, can be taught in real terms using appropriate learning methods or media. This aims to ensure that the concept of the subject matter can be understood by students correctly and that what will be learned is always remembered by students. The problem that often occurs is the low learning outcomes of students, including because the learning model is boring, does not involve active students, does not use learning media, and there is no use of technology in the learning process. One alternative to overcome the problems above is to apply a Simulation Based Learning model using PhET. The aim of this research is to describe the cognitive learning outcomes of class IX MTsN 1 Kuantan Singingi students after implementing the Simulation Based Learning model using PhET on dynamic electrical material and to determine the significant differences in the cognitive learning outcomes of class IX MTsN 1 Kuantan Singingi between the experimental class that applied the Simulation Based Learning model using PhET and conventional classes on dynamic electrical material. This research was carried out at MTsN 1 Kuantan Singingi in the odd semester of the 2024/2025 academic year. This research uses a Quasi Experiment type of research using a Posttest only Control Design. The population of this research is class IX students at MTsN 1 Kuantan Singingi for the 2024/2025 academic year, which consists of 5 classes and a total of 130 students. The samples taken in this research were class IX.1 as the experimental class and class IX.2 as the control class. Samples taken in this research
is class IX.1 as the experimental class and IX.2 as the control class. The experimental class was given treatment by applying the Simulation Based Learning model using PhET, while the control class applied conventional learning. After the learning for both classes was completed, both classes took a posttest consisting of 20 questions. The results obtained were analyzed using descriptive analysis and inferential analysis. The results of the descriptive analysis obtained showed that the class that was given treatment by applying the Simulation Based Learning model using PhET got a better average score of 78.65 compared to the class that applied the conventional learning model with an average score of 65.8. These results indicate that implementing the Simulation Based Learning model using PhET can improve students' cognitive learning outcomes. The results of the inferential analysis that was carried out using hypothesis testing, namely the Independent Sample T-Test using SPSS, obtained a significance value on the sig.(2-tailed) of 0.000, which means less than 0.05. In accordance with the t-test requirements, if the significance value is less than 0.05 then Ha is accepted and H0 is rejected, which means there is a significant difference in the cognitive learning outcomes of students who apply the Simulation Based Learning model using PhET compared to conventional learning on dynamic electrical material in class IX MTsN 1 Kuantan Singingi. Based on the descriptive and inferential analysis that has been carried out, it can be concluded that there is a significant difference in average scores between the cognitive learning outcomes of experimental class students who apply the Simulation Based Learning model using PhET compared to the control class that applies conventional learning. Therefore, researchers recommend implementing the Simulation Based Learning model using PhET as an alternative in science learning, especially in dynamic electrical material.
