STRATEGI KOMUNIKASI DINAS PARIWISATA PEMUDA DAN OLAHRAGA (DISPARPORA) DALAM MENARIK MINAT PENGUNJUNG FESTIVAL BOTUANG DI KOTA PAYAKUMBUH
Botuang Festival is an annual festival held in Payakumbuh City, West Sumatra. This festival aims to promote Payakumbuh City Culture and Tourism to the wider community. The Botuang Festival was first held in 2017 in the Ampangan area of Payakumbuh City. This festival event featured various artistic and cultural performances typical of Payakumbuh City such as plate dance, traditional music and bamboo canoe performances. The purpose of this research is to determine the communication strategies used to attract visitor interest by the Payakumbuh City Tourism, Youth and Sports Department.
This type of research is qualitative descriptive research, data collection techniques are carried out by interviews, observation and documentation. The data source uses 5 informants and sources consisting of Sub. Tourism Promotion Coordinator for the Tourism Marketing Division of Disparpora, volunteers who work together, media partner team @unjungpayakumbuh, visitors who attended and visitors who did not attend but knew about the Botuang Festival were selected using purposive techniques.
The results of this research show that the success of the communication strategy used by the Payakumbuh City Disparpora in attracting visitor interest in the Payakumbuh Botuang Festival starts with planning that is prepared as closely as possible by thinking about visitor satisfaction both with the appearance and also the conduciveness of the event provided by the Disparpora to make visitors comfortable watching the event. lively, and the success of attracting more visitors through social media is of course the main point of success for the organizers involved in making this Payakumbuh Botuang Festival a success.
