Penerapan Model Pembelajaran Argument Driven Inquiry Berbantuan Phet Simulation Untuk Meningkatkan Pemahaman Konsep Siswa Pada Materi Fluida Statis Kelas Xi Sma
Physics is a knowledge that studies physical events including processes, products and scientific attitudes that are cyclical, interconnected, and explain how natural phenomena are measured through observation and research. The process of absorbing material can be received directly through media in experimental activities, one of which is the use of media, namely PhET Simulation. The use of the PhET Simulation application in science learning can optimize, make the learning process effective and efficient as a whole, not just memorizing natural knowledge concepts. The use of phet media in physics learning is needed because the teaching and learning process is related to natural phenomena that cannot be seen directly, so the alternative that can be used is a lab simulation on a computer. The use of phet simulation can make it easier for teachers in the learning process because the application is easy to use, so it can help students to visualize concepts completely and clearly, then guarantee effective education and ongoing usefulness. It is hoped that students' understanding of the concept will increase.
The purpose of this study was to determine and describe the conceptual understanding of class XI SMA students using the Argument Driven Inquiry learning model and the use of Phet simulation learning media on static fluid material. The benefits for students are that it can improve conceptual understanding, while for teachers it can be used as input in improving the quality of physics learning and improving students' conceptual understanding. The research was conducted at SMA Negeri 1 Teluk Meranti. The time of this research was from 22 to 29 October in the odd semester of the 2024/2025 Academic Year. The type of quasi-experimental research is a posttest only non-equivalent group design. The research population was all class XI students of SMA Negeri 1 Teluk Meranti. Sampling was based on the normality and homogeneity tests of the results of the previous material repetition. The determination of the class to be used as a sample is determined by the probability sampling technique, namely simple random sampling by drawing lots in homogeneous classes. The research instrument contains a data collection instrument used by researchers, namely an instrument in
the form of a multiple-choice test as a post-test on static fluid material. The data was analyzed using descriptive analysis and inferential analysis techniques. The results of the study showed that there were differences in the understanding of the concept of students whose learning implemented the Argument Driven Inquiry learning model assisted by PhET Simulation with classes that implemented conventional learning.
The learning outcomes of the class using the Argument Driven Inquiry learning model assisted by Phet Simulation media on static fluid material are in the Good category with a percentage of 82.00%, while for the class implementing conventional learning is in the Fairly Good category with a percentage of 65.94%. The results of the hypothesis test using the Independent Samples Test obtained a result of 0.000 which means it is smaller than 0.05. So inferentially there is a significant difference between the experimental group and the control group.
Based on the research results, the results of the experimental class's conceptual understanding were higher than those of the control class, so that learning that applies the Argument Driven Inquiry model with the help of Phet Simulation media can be used as an alternative for teachers in physics science learning. Thus, learning using the Argument Driven Inquiry model assisted by Phet Simulation media is more effective in improving students' conceptual understanding because there is a significant difference between the experimental class and the control class.
