Penerapan Model Problem Based Learning Untuk Meningkatkan Kemampuan Koneksi Matematis Peserta Didik Fase D Kelas Viii.4 Smpn 5 Pekanbaru
This study aims to improve the quality of the implementation of the learning process and improve students' Mathematical Connection Ability (MCA) through the application of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model. The form of this research is Classroom Action Research (CAR) with 2 cycles involving 34 students in phase D in the odd semester of the 2024/2025 academic year on the Two Variable Linear Equation System (SPLDV) material. Each cycle is carried out through four stages, namely planning, implementation, observation and reflection. The research instruments consist of teaching tools including the Learning Objective Flow, Teaching Modules, and data collection instruments containing observation sheets and MCA tests. The data collected includes qualitative and quantitative data. Qualitative data is obtained through observation techniques using teacher and student activity sheets which aim to obtain data on teacher and student activities. Quantitative data is obtained using the MCA test technique which aims to collect MCA student data. Based on the results of the analysis of teacher and student activities as a whole, it was found that there was an improvement in the quality of the implementation of the learning process. The results of the MCA test analysis showed that there was an increase in the achievement of the frequency that obtained the maximum score and an increase in the average MCA score. The implementation of PBL also encourages students to be actively involved, have courage and self-confidence, and be able to build knowledge independently. The results of the study showed that the implementation of PBL can improve the quality of the implementation of the learning process and increase the MCA of students.
