Pengaruh Serat Ladari (Curcoligo Latifolia) Terhadap Kekuatan Tarik Dan Modulus Elastisitas Komposit Yukalac 157 Bqtn-Ex Untuk Aplikasi Lambung Kapal
ABSTRACT
Most of Indonesia's territory is water, so sea transportation plays an important role in people's lives. This transportation is a ship. Ships function as a service for transporting goods and passengers. In addition, ships are also often used in industry, mining and trade. This has resulted in increasing ship production every year. Along with the increase in ship production, the need for raw materials has also increased. As an alternative, the use of composite materials with natural fibers is a more environmentally friendly solution. This study aims to analyze the effect of variations in the volume fraction of ladari fiber (curcoligo latifolia) on the mechanical properties of the yukalac 157 BQTN-EX composite, including tensile strength and tensile modulus of elasticity. The composite was made using the press mold method. The variations in the fiber volume fraction used were 15, 25, and 35%. The results showed that the composite with a variation in fiber and matrix fractions of 35:65% gave the best results, with a tensile strength of 55.94 MPa, while the tensile modulus of elasticity was 4303.21 MPa. However, these results do not meet the standards of the Indonesian Classification Bureau (BKI) where the tensile strength is 98 MPa, and the tensile modulus of elasticity is 6860 MPa. The development of fabrication methods and alkalization treatments is expected to improve the performance of the composite so that it meets the established standards.
