Perancangan Dan Pengujian Cooling Box Berbasis Thermoelectric Cooler Sebagai Tempat Pendingin Susu
ABSTRACT
Fresh milk storage at the right temperature is very important to maintain the quality of milk protein and nutrition and to meet food safety standards such as the Indonesian National Standard (SNI) for Raw Milk No. 01-3141-2011. This study aims to design and develop a cooler box that uses thermoelectric cooling technology as an alternative storage device for fresh milk. This cooler box is designed to maintain a temperature of 4°C, which is needed to slow down changes in milk quality due to biochemical reactions and microorganism activity. A thermoelectric-based cooling system has been designed to achieve optimal energy efficiency in the cooling process. The dimensions of the designed cooler box are 27.5 cm long, 17.5 cm wide, and 19.5 cm high, with a 0.25 cm thick plastic wall and a 1 cm thick polyurethane layer. The volume of this cooler cabin is 5.5 liters. The cooling load that is cooled consists of transmission of 5.3221 watts, product of 19.0485 watts, and infiltration of 0.2244 watts, with a total power required of 24.58 watts. The thermoelectric system operates at 12 volts and 6 amps of current. The Seebeck coefficient of the system is recorded as 0.050 V/K, with an electrical resistance of 1.9674 Ohms and a thermal resistance of 0.5372 W/K. The system absorbs 22.97 Watts of heat and releases 107.6 Watts of heat. Two thermoelectric modules (TEC) are required to achieve the desired performance of 4°C. The device can reach a temperature of 4°C in 3 hours.
