Analisis wacana kritis multimodal kerusakan lingkungan dalam film dokumenter angin timur
Angin Timur documentary reveals environmental damage on the coast of
Java due to human activities. Pollution of shrimp farms, degradation of coral
reefs and the threat of gold mining are the main focus of this film, showing the
direct impact on marine ecosystems and the lives of coastal communities. The
narrative in the film not only builds a discourse on environmental damage
through ecological facts, but also criticizes the inequality of power, and shows
society facing structural injustice that worsens the environmental crisis. This
research aims to analyze the multimodal critical discourse on environmental
damage in the Angin Timur Documentary.
This research uses qualitative research methods with a critical approach.
This research analyzes Angin Timur documentary as a research object. The data
in this research was collected through a process of observation, documentation
and interviews. The data analysis technique uses Van Dijk's critical discourse
analysis to analyze text elements, social cognition and social context in the
environmental damage discourse in the Angin Timur Documentary and uses
multimodal analysis to deepen the analysis of text elements. The data validity
checking technique uses source triangulation.
The results of this research show that the text elements in the Angin Timur
documentary represent the environmental damage experienced by coastal fishing
communities, by highlighting the degradation of marine ecosystems due to
destructive practices. Semantic and syntactic approaches are used to strengthen
the message about environmental damage and economic inequality. Stylistic and
multimodal such as visuals, audio, and gestures, support a strong narrative,
creating an intellectual and emotional impact on the audience. Social cognition in
the film raises a critical understanding of the exploitation of natural resources by
placing fishermen as the main subject who voices resistance to large industries.
However, the film functions more as a medium for reflection than a practical
solution. Meanwhile, the social context in the film highlights the inequality of
access to natural resources and the dominance of economic-political power,
which hinders vulnerable groups such as fishermen from participating in
decision-making that affects their lives.
