Bioekologi ikan mengkait (Desmopuntius gemellus) di danau tuok tonga desa buluh cina kecamatan siak hulu kabupaten kampar provinsi riau
Desmopuntius gemellus (Cyprinidae) is a native species of Southeast Asian fish and inhabit peat swamp water as well as oxbow lakes that has dark water characteristic. This study aims to find out the biological and ecological factors that affects the presence of that. This research was conducted from June to July 2024. The fish were captured using net fishing gear ( 0.5 cm mesh size). Total number of fish caught was 199 (117 males and 82 females). Parameters measured were length and weight, sex, gonadal maturity level, length and weight relationship, and condition factors. While the ecological parameters measured were temperature, brightness, dissolved oxygen, nitrate, and phosphate concentration. Results shown that the fish caught were 52 – 88 mm TL and 2.3 – 6.8 gr BW in males. While those of the females were 49 – 83 mm TL and 2.6 – 8 gr BW. The length-weight relationship was allometric negative (b < 3). The gonad maturity level were 1st, 2nd and 3rd in males and females. The condition factor ranged from 0.97 – 1.65 and the sex ratio was 1 : 0.7. Data on biological aspects and environmental ecological factors of the Tuok Tonga Lake were able to support the life of D.s gemellus.
