Persepsi Siswasmk Yppi Perawang Pada Program Celengan Bambu Oleh Yayasan Buddha Tzu Chi
Social awareness among teenagers has become an increasingly important issue amidst the rise of consumptive and hedonistic behaviors. The Celengan Bambu Program, initiated by the Buddha Tzu Chi Foundation at SMK YPPI Perawang, aims to instill social and humanitarian values in students through regular donation activities. This program garners attention as it is expected to influence students' self-perception regarding the importance of sharing and contributing to society. This research used two theories, Jesse Delia's Constructivism Theory and James Gibson's Direct Perception Theory. This study aims to analyze the stages of self- perception formation among YPPI Perawang Vocational High School students regarding the Bamboo Piggy Bank Program and to explore the differences between constructive and direct perceptions arising from students' participation in the program.
This study uses a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. The subjects of the study were ten students of SMK YPPI Perawang which is determined using purposive techniques. The first criterion, namely having participated in the Celengan Bambu Program for three years. Then the second criterion is routinely donating to this Celengan Bambu Program. Data collection was carried out using in-depth interview and documentation methods. Data analysis techniques include data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The validity of the data was tested through the observation persistence technique.
The results of the study showed that the Celengan Bambu program had an impact on students' self-perception in two main aspects, namely constructive perception and direct perception. Constructive perception is formed through students' understanding of the values of sharing and empathy while direct perception is influenced by students' practical experiences in donating and seeing the positive impact of their contributions. This finding confirms that social programs such as Celengan Bambu can be a vehicle for instilling social values and strengthening students' character.
