Analisis Resepsi Pemilih Muda Terhadap Tren Joget Gemoy Prabowo Di Tiktok Pada Pemilihan Presiden 2024
Social media, particularly TikTok, has become a strategic platform in political campaigns to appeal to young voters. One interesting phenomenon in the context of the 2024 Presidential Election is the “Joget Gemoy Prabowo” trend, which utilizes a creative approach to build affinity with the younger generation. This study aims to analyze how young voters respond to this trend using Stuart Hall's encoding/decoding theory approach, which groups audiences into three reading positions: dominant reading, negotiated reading, and oppositional reading.
This research uses a qualitative research method with a descriptive approach. The subjects in this study are Tiktok users who are 17-25 years old and know about the content of Joget Gemoy and have even watched it repeatedly, totaling ten people who were determined based on purposive techniques. Data collection was carried out through semi-structured interviews, observation and documentation. Data analysis techniques by collecting data, reducing data, presenting data and drawing conclusions. In addition, the data validity checking technique uses source triangulation.
The results show a diversity in young voters' reception of the “Joget Gemoy Prabowo” trend. In the dominant reading position, young voters consider this trend as a positive innovation that succeeds in making political figures feel closer and more relevant to their generation's communication style. In the negotiated reading position, respondents recognize the creative potential of this trend, but still question its substantial relevance in the context of deeper political issues. Conversely, in the oppositional reading position, this trend is seen as a form of superficial imagery that ignores more critical and substantive political discussions.
