This research is motivated by the inheritance system of traditional badeo
medicine in the Petalangan community in Betung Pelalawan Village. The
formulation of the problem of this research is how the inheritance system of
traditional badeo medicine in Petalangan Society in Betung Pelalawan Village.
The purpose of this study was to determine how the inheritance system of
traditional badeo medicine in the Petalangan Community. Data collection
techniques in this research are observation, interview and documentation. The
subjects in this study were 5 community members who had social status or were
stigmatized who acted as community leaders in Betung Pelalawan Village, they
were referred to as informants, namely 1 informant who became a kemantan
(shaman / bomoh) and inheritor of traditional badeo medicine, 1 informant who
became a descendant of the recipient of the inheritance of traditional badeo
medicine, 2 people who had studied (students) or people who were trusted and
took an active role in the tradition of badeo medicine, and 1 petalangan
community who was also a member of the deo / badeo player.
The data analysis technique in this research uses a qualitative method with a
descriptive approach. The findings in this study explain how the system (method)
or procedure for inheriting the knowledge of traditional badeo medicine, namely
the soko system, the process of practicing or hunting, and special requirements by
means of belimau, as well as the criteria and ethics that need to be considered in
the process of studying traditional badeo medicine carried out in the Petalangan
community in Betung Village. This traditional badeo treatment is one of the
traditions originating from the Petalangan Malay community in Betung Village
Pelalawan.
