Analisis Resepsi Mahasiswa Universitas Riau Terhadap Budaya Berbagi Dengan Challenge Orang Pertama Di Konten Tiktok @Iben M.A
TikTok allows users to create instant videos with its various features. One TikTok account that went viral and became controversial is the account @Iben M.A. The content produced by @Iben M.A showcases generosity on social media. Based on the researcher’s observations, this content has sparked pros and cons among Universitas Riau students, making it an interesting subject for further research.
This research is a qualitative study using a constructivist paradigm. Data collection techniques include observation, interviews, and documentation. The study involved ten informants selected through a purposive sampling technique. The data analysis method used is reception analysis, consisting of data collection, data analysis, and conclusion drawing. The validity of the data was verified through source triangulation.
The results show that the ten informants interpreted the culture of sharing with the first-person challenge in TikTok content @Iben M.A differently. The findings indicate that the ten informants occupied three positions: dominant reading, negotiated reading, and oppositional reading. Three informants were in the dominant reading position because they accepted and understood the content as positive and generous. Five informants were in the negotiated reading position because they acknowledged the content as generous but believed that acts of kindness should not be displayed publicly. Meanwhile, two informants were in the oppositional reading position because they rejected the content, perceiving it as a display of self-promotion. The differences in reception are influenced by various factors such as economic background, religion, parental upbringing, education, as well as the informants' interests and habits in responding to the culture of sharing through the first-person challenge in TikTok content @Iben M.A.
