Karakteristik Biodegradasi Dan Daya Hambatantibakteri Edible Film Dari Karagenan Eucheuma Cottonii

Eucheuma cottonii acts as a source of hydrocolloids containing carrageenan, which fungtions in the production of biodegradable films and inhibits bacterial growth. The purpose of this study was to determine the differences in the concentration of E. cottoniicarrageenanin ediblefilmsthat can biodegradability and inhibitbacterial growth, as well as to obtain the optimal concentration. The tested parameters included CAW content, impurities, yield, thickness, water vapor transmission rate, EM4 and soil biodegradation analysis, antibacterial activity against S. aureus and P. aeruginosa, porosity and absorbency analysis. This study used different carrageenan concentrations of 1 and 1,5 g, with observation periods of 7 and 14 days for biodegradation rate analysis, using a T-test for statistical analysis. The results showed no significant differences in carrageenan concentration effects on the antibacterial inhibition zone test and EM4 and soil biodegradation tests. The results obtained in this study for the CAW content parameter were 41,50%, impurities 0,09%, and yield 39,47%. The thickness values were 0,05 mm for 1 g and 0,07 mm for 1,5 g, with water vapor transmission rates of 0,0007 g/m²/day for 1 g and 0,00002 g/m²/day for 1,5 g. The highest EM4 biodegradation rate was -111,55% over 7 days, and it reached -351,85% on 14 days. The highest biodegradation rate of soil was 33,60% on day 7 and 100% on the 14 days. The highest antibacterial inhibition value for S. aureus was 0,82 mm, and for P. aeruginosa was 2,91 mm. The porosity values were 4,5% for 1 g and 7,3% for 1,5 g, and the water absorption values were 50% for 1 g and 71% for 1,5 g. The best ability of carrageenan to inhibit bacterial growth was observed in P. aeruginosa at 2,91 mm. Additionally, the best biodegradation rate was achieved with EM4 at -111,55% over 7 days and with soil at 100% over 14 days.
