Students’ Perception On Using Chatgpt For Learning At English Study Program Of Universitas Riau
This study aims to determine students' perceptions of the use of ChatGPT for learning in the English language program at Riau University. This study aims to examine in detail students' perceptions of the use of ChatGPT for learning in the English Language Education Department of Riau University, considering various factors involved. The focus of the study includes 3 main aspects: Perceived ChatGPT's Academic benefits Perceived accessibility and attitude towards ChatGPT Perceived ChatGPT Academic Concerns. Using a quantitative design. Data were collected through a questionnaire filled out by 117 students. The results showed that the Perceived Academic Benefits of ChatGPT aspect had a very high average score of 4.39, indicating that students experienced significant benefits in learning efficiency, understanding of the material, and completing assignments. Likewise, the Perceived Accessibility and Attitude aspect also recorded a very high average score of 4.22, reflecting students' positive attitudes and their ease of accessing and using ChatGPT. In contrast, the Academic Concerns aspect of ChatGPT yielded a low mean score of 3.26, indicating that students had minimal concerns about the potential negative impacts of using ChatGPT, such as dependency, reduced critical thinking, and ethical issues. Overall, these results suggest that students perceive ChatGPT as a highly useful and accessible learning tool, with relatively low concerns about its academic implications.
