Peran Usaha Industri Kecil Pangan Terhadap Pengembangan Wilayah Di Kecamatan Tuah Madani Kota Pekanbaru
Development is a process of continuous improvement of a society or social system as a whole toward a better or more humane life, and development is the act of creating, creating, or organizing something that does not yet exist. Regional development must be based on an approach that integrates the potential of local resources, the capacity of local communities, and local wisdom as the primary foundation. The success of regional development depends heavily on the ability to optimize social capital, indigenous knowledge, and the skills of communities in managing their region's potential.
Small and medium-sized food industries (SMEs) are an industrial sector focused on the production, processing, distribution, and sale of food products on a small to medium scale. Food SMEs play a crucial role in providing affordable food products to the public, creating jobs, and supporting local economic growth.
The objectives that can be achieved in this study include the following: 1) To analyze the influence of production factors (working capital, labor, raw materials, and technology) on the production results of small food industry businesses in Tuah Madani District. 2) To analyze the role of small food industry activities on regional development in Pekanbaru City, especially in Tuah Madani District.
This research was conducted from October to December 2024 in Tuah Madani District, Pekanbaru City, Riau Province. The research location was purposively selected, considering that the majority of small-scale industrial businesses in Pekanbaru City are located in Tuah Madani District, including small food industries that need development.
This study shows the following results: 1) Production factors such as working capital, labor, raw materials, and technology have a significant influence on the production output of small food industry businesses in Tuah Madani District. Adequate working capital allows business actors to optimize production processes, while skilled and experienced labor increases productivity. In addition, the availability of quality raw materials and the use of modern technology contribute to efficiency and increased production scale. 2) Small food industry businesses in Tuah Madani District play a significant role in supporting regional development. This role is evident in their contribution to absorbing local labor, increasing community income, and creating an economic multiplier effect. In addition, these businesses also support local economic development through the utilization of local resources and strengthening business networks. 3) Despite having great potential, small food industries face various obstacles such as limited access to capital, lack of product quality standardization, limited marketing, and competition with large industrial products. These challenges need to be overcome to ensure business sustainability and development.
