In the era of Society 5.0 and the Industrial Revolution 4.0, education must adapt to technological advancements to prepare students for future challenges. In line with the Kurikulum Merdeka, teachers act as facilitators who foster innovation, one of which is through the use of Augmented Reality (AR). This study aims to identify the needs of students and teachers regarding AR-based learning media in economics subjects and to explore relevant feature specifications. The research employed a design thinking approach, focusing on the initial stages of empathize, define, and ideate, supported by Value Proposition Canvas (VPC) analysis, through participatory observation and semi-structured interviews. The findings indicate that students and teachers require AR to enhance interactivity and understanding of complex economic concepts. This study concludes that AR holds significant potential to support economics learning, provided its development aligns with user needs, conventional teaching methods, and solutions to technical challenges.
