This study aims to analyze the relationship between students' learning
styles and the ability to determine the intrinsic elements of fable texts by students.
This study was conducted at SMP Negeri 36 Pekanbaru on grade VII students.
This research is a quantitative study with a correlational research type. Data
collection techniques are carried out through tests and non-tests. The research
instruments used are questionnaires to determine students' learning styles and test
sheets to determine students' abilities in determining the intrinsic elements of
fable texts. The data in this study were analyzed using statistics assisted by SPSS
16.0 for Windows. The findings of this study are that there is no significant
relationship between students' learning styles and the ability to determine the
intrinsic elements of fable texts by grade VII students of SMP Negeri 36
Pekanbaru. This is indicated by the acquisition of the Asymp. Sig. value of 0.684,
which means the Asymp. Sig. value > 0.05. Therefore, it can be concluded that H0
is accepted and H1 is rejected.
