This research discusses gender equality regarding family harmony in
Payung Sekaki Village, North Tambusai District, Rokan Hulu Regency. The issue
raised is how gender equality affects family harmony in the context of culture,
responsibilities, and social roles. In addition, this study examines the extent to
which gender equality plays a role in shaping family harmony for couples married
for 5-10 years.
This study aims to 1) describe gender equality in Payung Sekaki Village,
North Tambusai District, Rokan Hulu Regency. 2) to describe the level of family
harmony in Payung Sekaki Village, North Tambusai District, Rokan Hulu
Regency. 3) to determine the effect of gender equality on family harmony in
Payung Sekaki Village, North Tambusai District, Rokan Hulu Regency.
This type of research uses an ex-post facto quantitative method, where the
independent variable of gender equality has occurred previously. The population
in this study is the community in Payung Sekaki Village, North Tambusai District,
Rokan Hulu Regency, with a marriage duration of 5-10 years, with a sample size
of 214 family cards, taken using simple random sampling techniques with a
margin of error of 10%. Data was collected from several family cards available in
Payung Sekaki Village. The data collection method involved observation of
families in the village. A questionnaire was used to measure gender equality and
family harmony, along with documentation in the form of photos. The research
instruments consist of two forms of questionnaires: (1) Gender Equality, and (2)
Family Harmony. Data analysis techniques used descriptive statistics to provide
an overview and inferential statistics to measure the relationship between
variables.
Based on the demographic factor analysis of gender equality respondents
in Payung Sekaki Village, North Tambusai District, Rokan Hulu Regency, the
mean value of family harmony is determined by the demographic factors of
gender and address.
The results of this study gained a significant and positive contribution
from the Gender Equality variable (X) to Family Harmony (Y) in Payung Sekaki
Village, North Tambusai District, Rokan Hulu Regency, with an impact of 22.3%,
and 77.7% is determined by other factors not included in this research. Data was
also obtained for the mean values for each research variable. The highest value is
found in the gender equality variable with a mean value of 3.78, followed by the
family harmony variable with a mean value of 3.29. These findings conclude that
both variables are in a fairly high category, with an overall average of 3.53.
