of extracurricular activities of scouts on the character of discipline of students of
SMPN 2 Ujung Batu, to determine the level of character of discipline of students at
SMPN 2 Ujung Batu, to determine the Influence of Extracurricular Activities of
Scouts on the Character of Discipline of Students of SMPN 2 Ujung Batu.
This type of research is ex-post facto with a quantitative approach. The
population in this study were students who participated in extracurricular scouting
activities as many as 85 students. The sampling technique with Simple Random
Sampling is a method of drawing from a population or universe in a certain way so
that each member of the population or universe has the same opportunity to be
selected or taken, using the Slovin formula, then the sample is 71 students who
participated in extracurricular scouting.
The research instrument consists of one form of questionnaire, namely
Scout Extracurricular Activities. The writing instrument goes through several
stages, namely: 1) reviewing all theories related to the variables to be studied, 2)
compiling indicators for each variable, 3) compiling grids, 4) compiling statement
items and determining measurement scales, 5) instrument trials, 6) analysis of
question items by testing the validity and reliability of each statement item. And on
the character of discipline using the same thing as scout extracurricular activities.
The data of this study were analyzed using descriptive data, hypothesis testing,

iv
A significant effect was obtained between the variable of scout
extracurricular activities (X) on the character of discipline (Y) of students of SMPN
2 Ujung Batu who participated in scout extracurricular activities, which had a large
effect of 38% with a low interpretation, because there was still 62% determined by
other factors that were not part of this writing.
Based on the analysis of demographic factors based on gender (male and
female) the variable of scout extracurricular activity activity obtained a mean of
3.44 and based on class demographics (Class VII, VIII, IX) the variable of scout
extracurricular activity activity obtained a mean of 3.5. Based on the analysis of
demographic factors based on gender (male and female) the variable of scout
extracurricular activity activity obtained a mean of 4.42 and based on class
demographics (Class VII, VIII, IX) the variable of scout extracurricular activity
activity obtained a mean of 4.42.
The suggestion from this study is that teachers are expected to be able to
improve the character of student discipline by recommending students to be more
active in participating in scout extracurricular activities because the higher the
student's activity in participating in scout extracurricular activities, the higher the
student's character of discipline. Students are expected to be more active and
enthusiastic in participating in scout extracurricular activities both held at school
and outside school. For the school, it is expected to support, preserve the scouting
extracurricular program, and provide adequate facilities so that scouting
extracurricular activities can run well. For further researchers who will study the
same problem, they can see it from a different perspective and are expected to study
other variables.
